Ensure that related parties are aware of the disappearance of the individual ( parents, school, fire service, etc.) - keeps them alerted just in case Sima manages to reach them in some way.
Use of flare guns - alerts Sima that a rescue team are out searching for her and may also serve to indicate the location of the rescue team.
Gathering Information.
Ask questions.
Where seen last? What time? Which direction? What was she wearing? What kind of gear she had? Does she have any known health conditions?
Establishing Search Area
Estimate how far a person could travel.
Check for the presence of any lakes, ponds, waterfalls or rivers close to place of dissapearance.
Determine a perimeter.
However, the longer a person goes missing, the larger the perimeter becomes.
Quick Check Search
If place of disappearance is nearby, make a quick search for clues and shout out for responses.
Try A Hasty Search
Organize parties in pairs and assign specific search points based on probable sites.
Teams should shout out or whistle and listen at various intervals.
Look for clues such as clothing, ground marks, and dropped gear for 20 to 30 minutes and then return to base camp to inform coordinator.
Make A Secondary Search
Perform another search with new information and ensure teams are outfitted with food and gear to last into the night.
Each search team should stay in sight of another when dark.
