PCL 6 - Signs and Symptoms of Sciatica

Signs and symptoms of sciatica:

- Back pain (usu from lumbar spine) stretches down to buttocks and legs (shooting pain)

- Numbness or muscle weakness in your legs and feet (may feel pain in one part of leg and numbness in other part)

- Tingling sensation (“pins and needles”) in feet and toes

- Crampling sensation of the thigh

- Burning sensation of the thigh

- Pain vary widely in different individuals, from mild ache to sharp, burning sensation or excruciating discomfort. Sometimes, it feels like jolt, electric shock

- Worsening of symptoms with maneuvers like sitting, coughing, sneezing

- Loss of bladder or bowel control – associated with Cauda Equina Syndrome, may lead to paralysis

- Usu only affects one side of your lower extremities
