PAIN SCALEEEEE >: (((((!!!

Dear all :D

Pain scales
1) Single dimension scales:
a. Commonly used
b. Simple, sensitive, reproducible and quickly applied
c. Give numerical value to pain
d. Analogue or Discrete (numerical or verbal)

Most common of these scales is the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Patient is given a horizontal 10 cm long line with “no pain” on the left hand side and “worst possible pain” on the right hand side and is asked to mark the line according to the severity of the pain.
The numerical scale is similar to VAS where the patient is asked to assign a number from 0-10 to their pain. Where 0 is no pain at all and 10 being the worst imaginable pain. In the verbal rating scale, the patient rates their pain into one of the following categories: none, mild, moderate, severe

2) Multidimensional (Complex) Scale
The development of multidimensional scale acknowledges the multidimensional impact of pain on a sufferer’s life. The most common is the McGill questionnaire.

Pictures would be shown on the PCL itself. >: ) STAY TUNED.
