Causes of Cataract
Cataracts are caused by changes in the lens protein of the eye, which makes them cloudy. Cataract may be caused due to:
- Diabetes
- An injury to the eye or Previous eye inflammation
- Exposure to ultraviolet light from sunlight
- Medication use, such as long-term use of steroids
- Smoking
- Crystallin’s loss of function
- A family history of cataracts
- Exposure to lead
